Magna Mike 8500 Manual
- The Magna-Mike 8500 is the ideal instrument for measuring difficult shapes and sizes. Nondestructive measurement capabilities allow for pinpoint thickness readings in tight corners and grooves down to a radius of 1/32 in (0.79 mm).
- The Magna-Mike is a Hall Effect thickness gage that uses a magnetic probe to perform accurate measurements on nonferrous and thin materials such as plastic bottles.

Panametrics Magna-Mike 8000 Hall Effect Thickness Gauge
Serial # 93133507
Description:
Panametrics Magna-Mike Model 8000 is an easy-to-use thickness gauge that utilizes a magnetic method (the Hall Effect technique) to make fast, accurate and repeatable measurements of nonferrous materials. Instant digital thickness measurements are made when its magnetic probe attracts a small target ball that is placed on the other side of the test material. This target ball can be simply dropped inside a bottle or container. A Hall Effect sensor built into the probe measures the distance between the probe tip and the target ball which is then displayed as an easy-to-read digital thickness. Measurements are made by holding or scanning the probe by hand, or by moving the test part while the probe is positioned in a benchtop holder.
With a target ball as small as 1/16' (1.59mm) diameter, the Magna-Mike is the ideal instrument to make accurate thickness measurements in critical areas such as tight corners or grooved areas. Other typical applications include center areas of large aluminum or plastic sheets where micrometers do not work, and glass containers, tubing, or thermoformed trays that are not practical for cutting up.
Standard Thickness Range from 0 to 0.2500 inches (6.350mm)
Resolution up to 0.0001 inches (0.001mm)
Scan Rate of 25 Measurements per Second
Min Mode Holds Minimum Thickness
Internal Datalogger
Condition:
The Magna-Mike 8000 is in very good cosmetic condition. The unit powers on and the display screen reads 'Do Cal'. Press any of the other control panel buttons and the message is gone and the unit appears to be responding to controls. We are assuming that the unit needs to be recalibrated however, we are by no means experts on this piece. Probe, manual and other accessories are NOT included. We do not have the ability to test the unit beyond powering it on and using the control panel. Please see photos for details!
